The only two airline loyalty programs native to the Philippines have their ups and downs. This is a comparison of Cebu Pacific's Get Go and Philippine Airlines' Mabuhay Miles.
Earning Miles
Most importantly, all banks operating in the Philippines one way or another have partnerships with PAL's Mabuhay Miles program to convert credit points to Mabuhay Miles. Contrary to that though, Unionbank's credit card co-branded with Cebu Pacific's Get Go program earns miles faster with a PHP30 to 1 mile ratio which is better than PNB's card co-branded with Mabuhay Miles which has a ratio of PHP33 to 1 mile. To conclude, it all depends on your preference of more cards all converting to Mabuhay Miles or a single co-branded card for Get Go.
Miles Value
Depending on your preferences, the value of both programs changes. If you prefer travel abroad with elite first class seats, Mabuhay Miles will give you more choices. However, if you prefer to travel locally and more often, the better choice is Get Go.
Perks
Given the mentioned facts, Mabuhay Miles is a more elite program which includes tiers of membership which have more and more perks as you climb from a regular program member to elite and eventually a "Million Miler". These perks include airport lounge access and higher percentages of miles earned when booking flights. With Get Go, the partnership with more banks will give you access to more special programs and events to earn bonus miles and enjoy discounts among other offers.
If you have personal experiences with either program, please tell us more in the comments.
