Increasing your Credit Limit III: Requesting an Increase

This is the third entry in a series about increasing credit limits
Increasing Your Credit Limit I: Spending
Increasing Your Credit Limit II: Keeping a Good Credit Score
If you REALLY want a credit limit increase, you can request for it over the phone or using email, depending on the bank.

Please just note some guidelines:
-SOME banks are very strict and will only increase your limit once every 12 months. BDO is like this, and even if some of my cards from other banks had 300% of my BDO credit limit, my request was denied. With those banks (usually the big ones), it's worth waiting. Strict banks mean prestige, benefits, and promos!
-Opposite big banks, young and new banks will be more aggressive in increasing your credit limits. From personal experience, EastWest does that fast.
-When requesting this, be ready to divulge information like your card numbers from other banks, employment proof, and bills, especially for credit cards from other banks

IN GENERAL, the idea is to CONVINCE the bank that you ARE CAPABLE OF SPENDING MORE MONEY

To do that, be ready to smooth talk the telephone agent when you call the bank (or sending emails).

Please note that this will cause a credit inquiry so it is best to try this with several banks in one day, just like how it is good to apply for several cards within 24 hours so that they will not be able to notice each other's credit inquiries.

Good luck, and may your credit limits increase!
